Professional Dog Trainer Serving Mashpee & South Cape Cod, MA.
Dog Training in Mashpee
If you’re searching for a dog trainer in Mashpee, MA, The Reliable Dog is just a short drive away at our Falmouth facility, and we regularly work with dogs and owners from across south Cape Cod.
Mashpee is a genuinely special place to have a dog. The Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge, the river woodlands trails along the Mashpee River, Waquoit Bay, and the John’s Pond Conservation Area offer miles of leashed walking in some of the most beautiful natural landscape on Cape Cod. Mashpee Commons invites dogs to stroll the sidewalks and green spaces year-round. And the Mashpee Dog Park gives your dog the chance to socialize and run off-leash in a safe, fully fenced environment with separate areas for large and small breeds.
All of it is better (and all of it is safer) with a well-trained dog. At The Reliable Dog, we use a balanced, marker-based training system designed to build confidence, obedience, and resilience in your dog, and to build real understanding in you as an owner.
Dog Training Services Available to Mashpee Residents
We offer three core programs, each designed with the dog’s whole life in mind. An evaluation with our lead trainer is required before starting any program. This lets us understand your dog, your goals, and your lifestyle so we can build the most effective path forward.
Day School
Dogs attend our climate-controlled indoor training facility at in Falmouth, for structured, semester-style training sessions. Each day includes training time with a skilled trainer, structured play and rest, and group socialization.
Board & Train
An immersive program where your dog lives and trains full-time with our head trainer during the week, while also attending Day School. Our Hybrid option allows your dog to return home on weekends, combining intensive weekday training with real-world home integration—ideal for Mashpee residents who want fast results without losing that daily connection.
Private Lessons
One-on-one sessions tailored to your dog’s specific challenges and your training goals. Private lessons can take place at our Falmouth facility or in your home, and are designed to educate the owner—because training happens every day between sessions, not just when we’re there.

Why Mashpee Dog Owners Choose The Reliable Dog
The Reliable Dog is different from other Cape Cod dog trainers in a few specific ways:
Locally based in Falmouth
We’re not traveling in from off-Cape. Our facility is right here, and we understand what it means to have a dog who thrives in the Cape Cod environment year-round.
Balanced, holistic training
We use a positive reinforcement marker system that builds obedience, confidence, and resiliency simultaneously—not just compliance with a single cue.
Owner education is built in
Every program includes education for you, because a reliable dog requires a reliable owner. You’ll leave understanding your dog, not just having a dog who “knows commands.”
Appropriate for every dog
All ages, breeds, and temperaments. Whether you have a nervous rescue, a high-drive working dog, or a pandemic puppy who never learned proper social skills, we have a track for your dog.
Led by professionals
Ian Pullen, our lead trainer, is a professional member of the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP).

Yes. The Reliable Dog’s training facility is located in Falmouth — approximately 15 minutes from Mashpee — and we work with clients from throughout Mashpee. We also offer in-home private lessons for clients who prefer training in their own environment.
-
Leash manners are one of the most common things we address, and one of the most immediately life-improving skills we build. We address leash pulling across all three of our programs.
-
The Mashpee Dog Park is the primary off-leash destination in town — it’s fully fenced with separate sections for large and small breeds, a water fountain, shaded seating, and double-gated entry for safety. Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (shared with Falmouth) and the Mashpee River Woodlands offer miles of leashed trails through stunning natural habitat. South Cape Beach State Park allows leashed dogs on the state-owned portion in the off-season (September 15 through April 1). A reliable recall and solid leash manners are the foundation for enjoying all of it safely.
-
Every stage — from puppies 4 to 6 months old in our Day School puppy track (vaccinations required) through adult and senior dogs. If you have a puppy who needs early socialization, or an older dog whose habits have become a problem, we have a program for both.
